About Barkleigh’s

Barkleigh’s is a dog (and cat!) rescue based in Johnston County, North Carolina, operating and networking with other rescues throughout the Triangle and surrounding areas. You can usually find us selling bandanas, bowties, and other handmade pet paraphernalia at many of our local popup markets, as well as right here on our web store. Barkleigh’s owners and lifelong dog lovers, Steph and Nikki, met in 2015 while working at a downtown Raleigh video game studio. The idea for Barkleigh’s was conceived from “what if” exercises that they would do for fun while going on lunch walks or sitting in the break room. However, unlike the other random ideas they spitballed, Barkleigh’s took hold and became something more than just a “what if.” Barkleigh’s operations began in 2020 and the rest is history!
